Artists come together to fundraise for London’s much loved arts radio station Resonance FM

London’s rather unique and much loved (around the globe, not just here in London) arts radio station Resonance 104.4FM finds itself in the throws of an annual fundraising drive that is being supported by a number of artists (as well as musicians, writers, venues, galleries and more).

Artists have been coming together to help keep the rather uniquely informative radio station flowing. Resonance FM is a full time radio station that is largely run by volunteers and funded by the goodwill of listeners.

A number of benefit gigs and events have been taking place alongside a couple of weeks of on-line fundraising auctions that have seen artwork from artists and designers such as Bob and Roberta Smith, David Shrigley, jimmy Cauty, Sean Worrall, Bella Freud, Pete Fowler, Billy Childish, Bruce McLean donate pieces to the on-line auctions.

Some of the auctions have now ended, the Bob and Roberta piece sold last night for a healthy four figure sum, other on-line auctions continue until the end of the month. Alongside the art there are rare slices of music, books, experiences, show tickets, whiskey marmalade, a subscription to Art Monthly and lots more. Every penny goes to support the upkeep and maintenance of the Resonance FM studio and the paying of the electricity bills and such…

There’s some coverage of the auction, including some words from Resonance FM’s Ed Baxter, via Organ magazine’s underculture blog, the on-going auctions can be viewed here.

As always your coverage, support for the auctions, links to Resonance FM via your bogs and websites are more than welcome and much appreciated
