BLUE ART LIST PRESS RELEASE No7:  BOWIE ‘HOMAGE’ MURAL ARTIST TO RELEASE LIMITED EDITION CHARITY PRINT

One month on from the sad news of David’s Bowie’s death, street artist James Cochran aka Jimmy C, will release a limited edition signed print of his Brixton mural. The artist will donate 20% of sales to cancer research charity, in memory of David Bowie and his 18-month battle with cancer.

Jimmy C, who painted the ‘homage’ David Bowie portrait back in 2013, became the almost accidental centre of attention worldwide when fans and mourners kept a vigil using his Brixton mural as a shrine to the late music legend. Pictures and videos of the mural with mounting flowers and emotional mourners went viral.

The artwork continues to headline front pages and has since spurred a soaring interest in Jimmy C’s unique work.

Unfortunately the focus on the piece of art has also resulted in a lot of substandard unofficial pirated prints, t-shirts and more, a situation that has motivated Jimmy C to react with a high quality official print and a donation of a percentage of the proceeds going to charity..

The portrait mural was originally created in 2013 to coincide with the V&A and Opera Gallery’s simultaneous David Bowie exhibitions.

Jimmy C says, “I have always respected Bowie as an artist and his ability to constantly push the creative boundaries. I am honoured that my work has been used as a form of tribute to his memory. It is hoped that this print will help celebrate Bowie’s legacy as well as raise money for cancer research charity.”
The artwork is a high-quality limited edition giclee fine art print (63 x 60cm) and can be purchased from 10th Feb via: http://jimmyc.arts-bureau.com
